But she has her own secrets. Because of a riding accident when she was seventeen, she can't have children. And in the middle of Zack's interview she receives an unusual call from the family lawyer. When she drives to his office in Long Brush, she finds a photo of two baby girls. The lawyer believes she has a twin. Lucy is as loyal to her family as they are to her. She doesn't want to hurt them or make them think they haven't given her enough...that they aren't enough. Should she find this sister who might be a twin?
Complicating life on the Rising Star, Lucy's brother Marty is drinking too much after a break-up with his girlfriend and Lucy is covering for him. She hopes that soon time will heal his pain. Zack tries to convince her her brother needs help, but Lucy is hoping the situation will resolve itself on its own. She knows Zack is a loner and a drifter and doesn't intend to stay. But they are still drawn together, can't deny their sizzling attraction, and find they can listen to each other with some perspective, even though they don't always agree.
The McIntyre family accepts Zack into their fold. At first his heart is hard against emotions he doesn't want to feel. But Lucy begins to change all that...she thaws his heart and leads him to love and emotional healing. Through this healing, Zack realizes exactly what future he wants. Accepting love in his heart helps him save Lucy's brother and find everlasting love.

Lucy McIntyre needed a temporary hand at the Rising Star Ranch to replace her brother temporarily while he worked out some problems. Her father raised cattle but his main focus was Quarter Horses, and that was Lucy’s love as well.When Zachery Burke road in on his Harley inquiring about the job Lucy was very surprised; he looked like a cowboy except for his helmet and motorcycle. She was not thrilled with him but he had already spoken to her father and it seemed like he already had the job wrapped up. The only problem for the both of them was that the Ranch didn’t have a bunkhouse so he would have to live in their house and take meals with the family. Zack was especially not happy, he wanted to be alone and away from people. He decided to take the job and try it out for awhile and if it didn’t work out, he would leave.
You really have to read the story if you want to know more beyond this point; I don’t want to give anything away. It is a very heartwarming story and I really enjoyed reading it!

Liked this book a lot.
I love the entire series, can't wait for the next one! Just saw it while shoppoing on one day and decided to get the book. I read it and ended up going back for more in the series.
Karen Rose Smith will keep you reading until the book is over and once again this book and this series was terrific. You will not go wrong with any of her writing.
Always Her Cowboy is possibly one of the best short romances I've read. The story is compelling and completely believable; the characters are real, rounded but flawed and entirely lovable. Of course, you know things will turn out happily - but will they? That's the question that comes up with every plot twist and they keep you guessing until the end. If you love character-driven stories with passion and sizzle, if you've dreamed of living on a ranch and falling in love with a cowboy, then Always Her Cowboy is the book for you. Read it, you'll love it. And then you'll do what I did - buy another in Karen Rose Smith's Search For Love series.
I like how the author ties characters from one book to the next. Once you "fall in love" with a character, it's sometimes hard to leave them when a book ends. I look forward to reading books where I can really get to know the characters, and I alway feel that way with Ms. Smith's books.
I really enjoyed the book. It was wonderfully romantic how each had a past situation had brought them together. I would be a good read about how to path of life comes together One was an online student and was not able to have children while the other had a painful past and left his life leisure. . .
A wonderful story of the strength of love and the beautiful thing that life can be when we open our hearts. Karen Rose Smith is a master at creating amazing characters who are warm and believable. This is a book, I can read again and again. It will probably become one of the holiday traditions books I read between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year.
